Salta
Located in the northwest of Argentina at the foot of the Andes, the province of Salta is characterized by its diversity of landscapes, its colors, and its transparent sky. Its territory has a great morphological variety and a range of climates of great contrasts, temperate valleys, green tropical jungles and the Andean desert. The combination of climate, soils, human experience and especially altitude (here are the highest vineyards in the world, exceeding 3000 m above sea level) make Salta an oasis wine producer producing great Torrontés wines. Salta, if we look at it more closely, is in fact a tropical province crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn. It is well known that wines are generally not produced in tropical regions, due to the high temperatures of these regions. However, as we increase in altitude, the temperature decreases by 1°C every 180 meters. And since the vineyards are usually located here at a height of 2000 meters, it is easy to see that the low latitude is compensated here by a higher altitude.
