Old Vine From Patagonia Chenin Blanc 2023

The grapes for this cuvée come from the traditional Allen vineyard site in the Alto Valley in the Rio Negro province of Patagonia , roughly halfway between the Andes Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The ungrafted (pre-phylloxera) and low-yielding vines were planted in the late 1960s and are naturally cultivated according to organic farming principles, resulting in wines that express the terroir and its varietal characteristics. All grapes are hand-harvested once they have reached optimum ripeness and then carefully selected before vinification. The grapes are gently pressed and fermentation takes place in contact with the skins, resulting in a complex development of flavors. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in clay amphorae and will age for 8 months, before being bottled without fining or filtration. A wine with complex aromas of citrus , beeswax , quince , juicy pear , granny apple , aromatic herbs and subtle saline nuances . Perfectly balanced on the palate, with a beautiful volume and an elegant, saline finish.

Other red varieties produced in Argentina are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Bonarda, Syrah, Tempranillo and Pinot Noir. Among white wines, the emblematic grape variety of the Argentine wine region is Torrontés, which gives a wine with a floral and tropical taste.
