Since Philippe Dhalluin took the reins of technical management of all the Rothschild family cellars (Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Clerc Milon and Château d'Armailhac in Pauillac, Almaviva in Chile, Domaine de Baron'arques in Limoux and Opus One itself in Napa Valley), Opus One, already considered one of the greatest Californian wines, has gained in finesse. A more rigorous selection of grapes, micro-vinifications by plots and the use of barrels with lighter oak than before have contributed to its refinement.
