Corvina grape wines
Corvina is a dark, thick-skinned grape variety whose grapes are used in the production of red wines from Valpolicella , in the Veneto region of northern Italy.
These wines tend to be light and fragrant with notes of cherries, strawberries and nuts. More serious expressions of Corvina are obtained by drying the grapes on straw mats before fermentation; a process known as Recioto or Ripasso. The best of them are the great Amarones, wines of character with considerable complexity and power.
