Tannat grape wines
Tannat , whose roots lie in Madiran (a small village in southwest France), is Uruguay's iconic and most widely planted grape variety. It produces elegant red wines, loaded with tannins and with a beautiful acid structure.
The tastes of Tannat range from red fruits to dark fruits, a good dose of black licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, espresso and smoky notes. In general, the more the wine is aged in oak barrels, the more pronounced the spicy character.
