Let's talk little, let's talk wine
This vintage is exclusively composed of a selection of the best mass selections of Pinot Noirs from Ecueil des plotsLes ChaillotsAndLes Hautes Vignes , planted in 1969 and classified Premier Cru. They grow on clay-limestone soils with grass cover controlled by plowing, and are cultivated with respect for living things, without chemical fertilizers, insecticides or other synthetic products. The 2013 harvest is distinguished by an exceptionally late start to the picking on October 1st, which produced straight and taut wines.
Extra Noir is vinified in oak barrels, themselves made with wood from the Ecueil forest, by the Tonnellerie de Champagne. As in all the estate's vintages, vinification takes place as respectfully as possible of the wine, avoiding any handling and unnecessary intervention. The grape juice is poured in from the harvest and only comes out when it is drawn into the bottle, after a slow improvement and natural stabilization. In the barrels, in contact with the lees, the wine gains in complexity, power and sweetness. To balance this roundness, the liveliness and intrinsic freshness of the grape are preserved by not carrying out malolactic fermentation. The “Extra Brut” dosage (5 g/l) completes the fullness and delicacy of the expression of Pinot Noir d’Ecueil.
After the draw in April 2014, this vintage is disgorged in March 2021 after almost 7 years of aging on the lees.
