Vayots Dzor
The Vayots Dzor region is one of the oldest and main wine-growing regions of Armenia. The altitude of the region varies between 850 m (Mont Aréni) and 3522 m (Mont de Vardénis). It has a dry climate with precipitation that varies depending on altitude. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, at an altitude of 1400 m, and near a historic estate (6100 years old) the Zorah vineyards are located in a magical location. It is a 40 ha vineyard with an atypical microclimate allowing the production of magnificently healthy grapes thanks to several phenomena: long and dry summers, high daytime temperatures contrasting with cool nights, rocky soils, rich in limestone, which help to maintaining humidity in the vines during the summer heatwave, slow maturation ensuring the development of sugars and natural acidity. Armenia is considered one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world. According to the Bible, Noah came down from Mount Ararat, planted the first vineyard and made wine from it.
